Juvenile Law – CHIPS and JIPS

Juvenile law addresses issues concerning children in need of protection or services, juvenile delinquency, and other related matters.

Child in Need of Protection or Services, or “CHIPS”, cases are initiated when a child is not receiving adequate care, protection or is at risk of harm. The focus of a CHIPS case is to ensure the child's safety and well-being, and to provide necessary services to address the issues and support the child and their family.

Juveniles in Need of Protection or Services, or “JIPS”, cases are commenced when juveniles need court intervention due to specific issues, such as habitual truancy, running away frequently, being uncontrollable by their parents, or otherwise deemed delinquent.

Attorney O'Connor has dealt with numerous CHIPS and JIPS cases over the years and understands that such cases may involve complex issues and are often driven by emotion. No matter the circumstances of your juvenile case, she will work hard to represent you and will help navigate the court system in your time of need to ensure a proper and safe outcome.
